How COLTE training facility by Redington Foundation in creating opportunities for youth

Understanding the growing demand for skilled workforce across the logistics and supply chain sector, redington foundation launched one of its kind training facility – COLTE (centre of logistics training for excellence) in partnership with logistics sector skill council. COLTE was launched in chennai, equipped with cutting-edge technology and training facilities to empower underserved youth and workforce.

The program is focused on equipping individuals with both theoretical and practical knowledge, specifically focusing on hands-on training. The strategic interventions include:

• World-class simulation labs and AR/ VR based training facilities
• Short term training (STT) programmes for youth, women and pwds
• Upskilling programme for supply chain industry workers
• Academia programme for economically challenged college students
• IEC study materials and training kits for all participants
• State-of-the-art facilities – classrooms, digital libraries, laboratories and simulators

Creating job opportunities from COLTE program

With over 170k+ training hours, COLTE has successfully trained youth and helped with employment opportunities. With over 100% placement opportunities offered, 75% of students accepted the offer within logistics industry. This has significantly helped in increasing the average family income of 35 – 40% students. The project has improved and positively impacted on the socio-economic status of the students and their families, reducing poverty and enhancing living standards.

Dream to success – inspiration story of determination

Uday babu, hails from chennai – villivakkam. A tenth failed student from a poor family, he worked in vegetable and fruit shop at bustling koyambedu market, struggling with limited communication skills. With his mother as the sole breadwinner of the family, uday’s future is uncertain. His family faced financial hardships, exacerbated by his lack of formal education and employable skills. He joined the logistics training program at COLTE center through his friend. Upon completion of the training program, his dedication and skills caught the attention of potential employers. He got opportunity in flipkart as a warehouse associate. His journey didn’t end there with his determination and hard work, he quickly rose through the ranks, currently serving as a team coordinator. Uday’s journey serves as an inspirational testament to the transformative impact of education.
